Marilyn Appleman

"Put a nice lump of clay in front of someone and time dissolves."

Marilyn enjoys many creative pursuits, including gardening, basket weaving, stained glass, and painting, but her true love is pottery.  She enjoys every aspect of playing with clay, especially how tactile the creative process is.

Marilyn feels that if you allow it, inspiration will come to you from many different sources ... from nature, from parts of others' work that you admire, or even from the pattern of your jammies as you drink your morning coffee.  But for her, the most important and strongest influence is from the clay itself.  Begin with a plan but let it evolve as you work.  Let the clay be your guide.

Marilyn has been in numerous juried shows and has been displaying in many Michigan galleries for the past ten years.  Her main focus has been in tiles although she finds herself enjoying a renewed interest in hand building and altering wheel thrown pots.
